The hip piercing is not that common at all. That’s part of the reason I love it so much though – it’s so unique.

Dermal piercings are technically permanent. That’s if everything goes right during the healing period. There is a chance of the piercing rejecting though. This of course is the main reason that someone would lose the piercing. Dermal piercings do not cause any long term or internal damage.

The piercing should not causse any issues with ageing, weight gain or pregnancy.

Hope this answers your question.

Hannah.

I have to say that I have never before heard of hip piercing before. I do have a few question though.
Are the dermal piercings permanent? Can they ever be removed? Do they cause any lasting internal damage?
Also if you were to gain weight or become pregant would they have to be removed?
Thanks for your time.

This is a beautiful piercing.

A hip piercing needs to be cleansed twice or three times a day for the healing period. You might be able to cut down to once a day after a couple of months though. That’s if you feel that you are healed up. After three months you can stop cleansing.

As long as you stay out of the water and do not get sand in the piercing, the weather should not be an issue. If you are sweating a but you should cleanse a more often though. One good thing about getting this piercing in the summer is the fact that clothes are loose and do not rub on the piercing.

You will feel some pain when you get the piercing. Although it is not as bad as you would think. Some piercing studios offer anaesthetic. Tht depends on where you get pierced. Do your research and seek out a studio which uses anaesthetic.

Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Many people get confused over how dermal piercings work. Understandably.

Dermal piercings are technically permanent. Although even the slightest bump can cause them to reject after a few weeks. Some people do keep them for years though. It varies a lot.

Hope this answers your question.

I absolutely love this!!!!! The hip dermal is so beautiful. I really want one now. I’ve always liked those kind of piercings, but I’ve mostly seen them on peoples chests, or by their collar bones. I really love the idea of having them on my hips though. I was wondering, during the 3 month healing process, will I have to clean it multiple times everyday for the 3 months? I was also wondering, would this be a piercing I should get during the winter months? During the summer I’m always outside and at the beach, would the sun affect the healing process? I have no problem staying out of the water, I just wonder if I would be better off waiting till winter came back around… My biggest concern, how bad does getting a dermal piercing hurt? Can you have tho option to numb the area first? It seems like a painful process..

Found your article on hip piercing and it cleared up a question I had about one of our neighbors we met recently. She did not have her hips pierced, but has a single piercing off center on her chest about 4 inches below her clavicle.

For me (one of the un-pierced) I couldn’t quite figure out what was going on there, how it was staying there, etc.

This post helped, Question: since these are permanent, how many years overall do people keep them in on average before having to take them out due to just something simple like the aging process?

Thanks, Eric
